Clean Your Lens

Those of us who wear glasses know there are moments when everything you look at seems a little blurry or slightly out of focus. You keep going about your day until you just can’t take it anymore. You take your glasses off and notice they are very dirty. Cleaning them with a cloth makes things so much better, focused. You realize that you’ve spent your whole day with your vision distorted because of a dirty lens.

This can be true for life in general. How are you viewing your life? Do you need to change the way you are viewing things? Is your mindset a little dirty?



We go through many things throughout our days. Things that make us happy and things that make us sad. Our mindset surrounding these things is what makes or breaks us. Yes, we may have moments where life seems so bleak, but that can change if we change the way we look at things. Trials and tribulations are hard, but they serve purpose. Standing still in these moments allows us to view everything around us. What is really happening? What can I do to change it? What is God requiring of me? Assessing your atmosphere and changing your mindset can change your perspective.

We never want to view life from a dirty lens, a negative mindset. When our emotions and feelings aren’t so positive, we can clean them up. We can remove the dirt (negative view) and make them positive, simply by accepting where we are and letting God move in our life. The Bible tells us that in Him we live, move, and have our being. In Him we find peace and joy. It also tells us, that if we lean not to our own understanding, and acknowledge Him, He will direct our paths. Because of Him, we can pull through any situation. Because of Him, we can stand tall, even when everything around us wants us to bend. In Him, we can rest. In Him, we will move through the storm. In Him, we find our victory.

When life seems a little hard and you can’t seem to focus on the positive, clean your lens. When you can’t seem to make out what is going on in your life, clean your lens. A clean lens will allow you to see and focus on God. Don’t allow your negative mindset to determine your view. God is always there. He is directing your path. Clean your lens so your path becomes in focus.
