The past few months have been interesting to say the least. I have had moments of immense happiness and moments of deep sorrow. What do you do when enough is enough? What do you do when you feel like you are trying to no avail? What happens when you have reached your breaking point?
Break.
We are often told that you will bend, but not break. In my experience, breaking has been the best thing to happen to me. It was in my breaking that I surrendered. Bending meant I was holding on to things that needed to leave. Bending caused me to not see reality. Breaking let me give it all to God. It’s not easy to break. We see ourselves as weak. But as the Bible says, in our weakness, His power is perfected. It is God’s strength that carries us through to the next step.
Breaking meant setting my boundaries, not allowing others to disregard them. Breaking meant choosing me and allowing God to move through me. Breaking meant giving up those things that weren’t conducive to my calling or my purpose. Some things we have to break away from. Some things require the ties to be broken, chains to be broken. Breaking can be necessary for the survival of our gift.
What do you need to break from? I suggest that you change your perspective on breaking. Look at it from all sides. You don’t have to break and be immobile. Let the breaking propel you forward. Let the breaking represent freedom. Let the breaking move you into God’s will. There will be times where you will just bend. But there will be times where you need to break free from what is holding you back. Break free from the bondage that is keeping you hostage. God will be there every step of the way. God will be there to wrap you in His arms and keep you safe.
Break.
I pray that God will hear you in your breaking point. I pray God gives you the strength to break free from whatever is holding you back. God is faithful. God is Love. God is the safety net. God is your protection. I pray your spirit is strengthened in God’s word. Let your heart and mind have the courage to surrender to God and release those people, places, and things that cause you pain. Break away from things that keep you in your comfort zone. Allow your oil to flow.
For those of you reaching your breaking point and those already at the point of breaking, I encourage you to BREAK!
