They say it takes a Village...

My village.

This is one of those unplanned blog entries. I’m writing it just before scheduling it to post.

They say it takes a village…

I needed to take a moment to stress the importance of having a village in your life. I’m not talking about a group of houses or associated buildings, but the village of people that are placed in your life to help support, encourage, strengthen, and build you up. The village is important. The village is necessary. The village is unmatched.

God strategically places people in our lives that have gifts that complement our own. These people will not only hold key pieces to our future but help us develop through the life experiences we encounter together.  The village consists of talented, gifted, and anointed people filled with love, sometimes tough love, and grace. They hype you up in life’s greatest times, comfort you in the bad, and correct you when you step out of line.

Let me take a second to tell you about my village. I stumbled upon my village in 2009. Funny thing is, I had known most of them my whole life because of church, but we didn’t “run” in the same circle. Well, one winter, the Lord fixed all of that when we came together to sing in a group. We began to hang out all the time, sing for different engagements, travel together, and so much more. They have been there for me in life’s toughest times. They have cried and laughed with me. They have taken care of my child. They uplifted me. They have encouraged me. They have corrected me when I was wrong.

My village has experienced tough times, but no matter what, I can count on every single individual to come through for me when I need them and vice versa. The village was the sweetest gift God could have given me. He made sure that I had people in my life that were genuine. God made sure I had people who could pray for me, speak His word into my life, and spiritually fight for/with me when necessary. Having a spiritually sound village is gift I can’t even begin to express the significance of.

I pray you have a village, and if you don’t, I pray God begins to reveal your village to you. I pray He sends people into your life that will uplift you in ways you have never felt. I pray your village is filled with people that will speak God’s word in your life, comfort you in times of sorrow, encourage you in life’s endeavors, and prays with you along life’s journey.

The village is necessary. To my village, I love you all. You have been my sounding board. Life has been so much better with you all in it. You all possess greatness inside of you and I’m excited to see all of God’s promises manifest in your life. To my village babies, even those yet to be born, I love you and will be there to help guide you into your God given gifts, talents, and the promises He has for you. Village, I’m honored to be in your life and grateful you are in mine. My village is unmatched.

It truly takes a village…
