Its the Little Things...
Pay Attention.
Some days I see God in the BIG things. Some days I see Him in the small things. It’s those small glances, tiny moves that make me appreciate God even more. The big is obvious and hard to miss. The small things always amaze me, catch me by surprise, and are often missed if I don’t pay attention. It’s the intricate details that keep me in awe of God.
Paying attention to how my body feels and operates warrants a thank you. Order in the earth, sun, and stars are worthy of a thank you. God is everywhere and in everything. He is visible in all creation. From the biggest trees to the smallest insect, God is in it all. He is visible in our thoughts, moves, and our being. Being thankful for the little things allows me to appreciate everything.
Take a moment to feel God around you. Hear God speaking through the wind. Watch God move through the trees and the birds in the sky. Watch how they all obey His command. Observe the divine order He has placed throughout creation. It should stir up an appreciation for the small things we often overlook or take for granted. I still remember my Aunt Carrie in complete awe of God during a family road trip. She was so moved by God’s creations and even the skill and knowledge He had given man to create, that she began to cry. Being young, I thought it was funny. Now being an adult and having a true relationship with God, I feel and relate to her amazement.
Aside from nature, what is God doing for you in your life? Are you healthy? In your right mind? Have a job? Is He making ways for you? Providing for you? These are things we can take for granted every day. Take inventory of your blessings. There will be more than you can count.
Sometimes we anticipate these gigantic moves of God. We look for mountains to move; the things we can see. When we only anticipate and glorify the big moves of God, we miss God moving in the small things. Maybe the mountain won’t move, but God provided a small detour around it. Don’t just focus on your mountain, focus on what God is doing for you while you are faced with the mountain.
God can be moving in your life right now in the smallest of things, but the impact is still monumental. Don’t set your focus on the big moves only. Look for God is ALL things, even those small things.
God is moving.
It’s the little things…and the joy they bring.
